5 Things To Remember When Decluttering

Decluttering is one of the dreadful tasks that we have to do at home. Some of us feel daunted with just the prospect of letting go of our items that have been sitting on the shelf and collecting dust. Whenever I declutter my home I always keep a few things in mind so that I don't feel overwhelmed.

Here are my five tips on how you can declutter your home efficiently.

1. Plan in advance

Setting a dedicated time and date for decluttering will help you get more things done. It makes sense as you will be able to prioritize what part of your home needs the most decluttering. Having a plan means that you can also prepare cleaning and sanitizing items on hand. Also if you will be having a massive decluttering, you will have to deal with the garbage afterward. 2. Start small

You don't have to tackle the whole task immediately you. You can start even by just removing broken and unnecessary items that are in your junk drawer. 3. Identify your problem areas

There are just places that need the most decluttering, it might be your kitchen or maybe your bedroom with piles of clothing everywhere. Decluttering is a big task on its own but you need to remember that you only have so much time in a day. 4. Segregate your items to keep, donate and garbage piles.

It's much more efficient to segregate things first before the final cull. Knowing the things that you love and use all the time is really important, you also need to be careful to not let go of seasonal items such as winter or summer clothing. Items that you don't use but are still in good shape could still be donated for a good cause so it doesn't go to the landfill. For the garbage disposal make sure that you apply segregation to avoid unnecessary mixups. It's also good to use labels so you don't accidentally discard anything by mistake. 

5. Keep things clean and in order.

We tend to collect things because we think we need them. Even if its duplicates of the same item or maybe an impulse purchase that we don't think much about. Keeping the items you already own in good shape will make you shop less which saves you money and you don't need to devote a longer cleaning regiment in the long run.
