Bucket lists have taken the world by storm in recent years. There are some heartwarming and heartbreaking tales out there. But one thing’s for sure, the bucket list phenomenon has taught us a valuable lesson. Life’s too short, so don’t put off doing things or seeing places. Live for the moment, and travel as much as you can.
Why make a bucket list?
Bucket lists encourage us to aim high and think about what we want to do with our time. The reality is that life can be short and we never really know what’s coming. Adopting a carpe diem approach opens up opportunities and ensures that we don’t go through the motions of life. The world is there to be discovered and explored, so why not make your own bucket list this summer?
If you’re interested in traveling, write down a list of destinations you want to visit or experiences you want to enjoy or endure. You don’t have to do them all back-to-back straightaway. Take your time, save up and make some plans.
Bucket list suggestions
For the beach lover
If you’re a fan of lazing around on golden beaches and soaking up the sun, why not add the Caribbean to your bucket list? The Caribbean is a perfect location to chill out, have fun and enjoy a laid-back beach holiday. The larger islands of Barbados and Jamaica boast a carnival atmosphere. You’ll find friendly locals and lively bars by the bucket load. Check out sites like http://ajamaicaexperience.com/ for inspiration. If you’re looking for a quieter retreat, make for the British Virgin Islands.
For the animal lover
If you’re an animal lover, nothing will ever top a safari adventure. Head to Tanzania, Kenya or South Africa to spot the world’s most majestic creatures roaming around in their natural habitat. Take a look at http://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/africa for handy tips.
For the adventure lover
If you crave danger and excitement, look no further than New Zealand. You can try just about every outdoor pursuit imaginable here, and the scenery is spectacular to boot. Bungee off a bridge or crawl through caves. Skydive, parachute or climb the walls of a canyon.
For the history enthusiast
If you’re interested in history or ancient civilizations, your bucket list should feature Rome. Rome is one of the world’s most beautiful cities. Steeped in history, you can turn a corner without seeing something marvelous. Unleash your inner gladiator at the Coliseum and meander through the ruins of the forum. Visit the Trevi Foundation and scale the Spanish Steps. Take in the splendor of the Pantheon and the grandeur of St Peter’s Basilica.
If you’re thinking about spreading your wings, it’s always a good idea to make a travel bucket list. Do some research, be intrepid, and have an incredible time!

Therese
