5 Simple Ways To Turn A Bland Bedroom Into A Serene Sanctuary

Some days, there’s nothing more appealing than the thought of climbing into bed. Your bedroom is a place you should always look forward to visiting. If your room is a mess, you’re sick of clutter, or the decor is outdated, why not carry out a mini makeover? Here are five simple ways to create a serene sanctuary.

1. Choose the right shades

When you get into bed, you want to feel calm and relaxed. Try to avoid anything garish or vivid in the bedroom. Opt for neutral shades and add color with accessories. Colors can help to influence your mood. Choose soothing tones, which create a tranquil ambiance. When you’re choosing colors, it’s best to get an array of samples. Try them out on the wall before you make your decision. You may find that the shades look very different on the wall than on the front of the pot. Once you’ve decided on a color, you can choose complementary accents and finishing touches.

2. Use lighting to create a romantic, calming atmosphere

Your bedroom is not the place to install strip lights. Lighting is one of the most effective ways to create a relaxing atmosphere and add a touch of romance. Place lamps either side of the bed and go for a statement standing lamp in the corner of the room. Use a dimmer switch to add versatility. There are few things in life more tempting than a sumptuous bed piled high with cushions and throws. You may still struggle to enjoy a restful night in the most peaceful bedroom if there is light streaming the windows in the early hours. Invest in some thick curtains or blackout blinds. If you find a print but the material is too light, add a lining. Or you could double up and fit a blind and curtains.
