Top Tips To Make Cleaning Your Home Easier And Faster

Keeping the home clean, tidy, and presentable can be a never ending challenge, especially when your household has a few little feet running around. Piles of debris seem to follow little ones around, and when you’re so preoccupied with feeding, watering, and cleaning them, the household chores tend to play second fiddle. If you’re at your wit's end with the state of your home, and you just feel like you can’t keep up, try some of these top tips for getting on top of it.

Declutter

Clutter is the enemy of a tidy home. It collects dust, meaning that cleaning takes longer and is far more fiddly. It’s also a whole lot more difficult to make a home look tidy when there’s clutter filling it - everything has to be clean and in the right place, otherwise it just looks messy. If you don’t need something, throw it away. If you do need it, put it in its rightful place. Keep surfaces clear, and it’s automatically tidier.

Choose gadgets which help, don’t hinder

If you haven’t got the right tools for the job, cleaning can be a real chore. Using a vacuum cleaner which doesn’t hurt your back, such as a backpack vacuum, can help you get all the dust up in half the time, and you won’t resent it too much either. Choosing the right one for the job is crucial for the efficiency and ease of cleaning. For example, do you use a short-handled dust-pan and brush for hard surfaces? Why not go for a long-handled one and save all the bending and crouching, making it easier, faster, and more comfortable to undertake these chores.

Don’t underestimate the importance of storage

If everything has a place to live, it’s easy to put it right back there once you’re done with it. If you have more things than you do storage, you’ll always be chasing your tail trying to put things away. While it might take you a day to increase your storage, give everything a rightful place, and even label each bit of storage, it becomes far easier to maintain. You can even show the kids how to return everything to their particular place so it doesn’t all just fall to you - bonus!

Tidy as you go

When you stay on top of things, you no longer have the huge, looming task of cleaning the house from top to bottom over your head. Some things, such as laundry, dishes, and tidying can be done on a day to day basis - make sure everything is put away when you go to bed so you can wake up to a perfectly tidy house - it’s absolute bliss. For all other, bigger jobs, such as vacuuming, mopping, bathroom cleaning and others, allot a certain time to do them each week or every day, and stick to it. Of course, you might want to do it then, but once it’s out of the way, you’ll feel infinitely better.

Keeping on top of housework can be a daunting task, but it is totally possible to make it easier and faster for yourself. Do you have any secret hacks for keeping your home clean? I’d love to hear them!
