Home Not So Sweet Home: How To Get Fit In Your Own House

If we’re completely honest, we all know that the gym is way too expensive and far out of our budget – but we keep paying our memberships there month after month, in the wild hopes that we’ll actually end up going there more than twice a month at some point, get fit, and lose some weight. Well, now is the time to make a change – cancel your gym membership, and check out these tips on how to get fit at home.

Get Jogging

Before you start jogging, you must remember that you need to buy decent running shoes so that you don’t end up hurting your joints and injuring yourself. If you don’t usually jog then why not check out Couch To 5K? Alternatively you could start off with a brisk walk around the block. The most important thing is that you get moving and that you get into the habit of making yourself go out to exercise – although we all know that this time of year, your couch is far more inviting! If you don’t want to aimlessly run around the block then why don’t you research local beauty spots so you can take your family hiking there?

Get Exercising

Talk to your doctor if you have any medical problems, and start to figure out a home exercise routine that works for you. This will generally involve some stretches to begin with as you warm up – but remember that it doesn’t have to last forever and you could just exercise for ten minutes after you wake up with some push ups and sit ups to help you get ready for the day ahead. Remember to keep at your own pace and not to strain yourself, but at the same time it’s important not to let yourself off too easy!

Get A Home Gym

If you love the gym but you don’t love the atmosphere, then why not invest in a home gym? It might be a pretty sizable chunk out of your bank account initially but in the long run it’ll be worth it for you to be able to disappear off to your home gym whenever you want to work off some steam or feel a little fitter. You could go for a treadmill if you love running but the pavements aren’t great quality around where you live, or an elliptical machine if you want to work on your cardio.

Get Spiritual

Okay, so you might not be into the spiritual side of yoga but the truth is that it’s just as good for your body as well as your mind. It helps you become a more peaceful and calm person as you spend time focusing fully on the way that your body’s working instead of what’s going on inside your head. Check out yoga guru Adriene on YouTube – her videos are very suitable for beginners and she has routines that will sort out any part of your body that’s currently a bit sore. Yoga is a discipline that’s thousands of years old and will absolutely help to sort out your balance and poise.
