Christmas Detox: 3 Easy and Healthy Recipe Ideas for the New Year

Eating healthy doesn’t have to be a chore. All we need to do is swap out the sugary sweets for some fruit or a couple of vegetables, but it’s understandable that some people just can’t handle eating raw veggies yet, or they prefer to have their food cooked.

To help ease those problems, here are a couple of healthy recipe ideas that can be made with ease and without too many uncommon ingredients. These will make great snacks and some of them can be stored to be eaten later—and you won’t even need many kitchen utensils!

Smoothies

Smoothies are the ultimate way to get lots of fruits and vegetables into a tasty and easy-to-eat form. There are so many different blenders and they each serve different purposes, but here are the findings if you want to check out some of the industry’s best blenders. Some machines are designed for fruits while others specialize in vegetables, but some blenders are multi-functional and will take on a variety of tasks.

You can get creative with smoothie recipes and add almost anything that you think would taste good. For example, a great morning smoothie can be made from oranges, bananas, frozen summer berries, low-fat yogurt and a tablespoon of sugar. Another great idea for a breakfast smoothie is spinach, coconut and grape. It’s a sweet, thick, and healthy treat to start off the day.

Pitta Sandwiches

Pitta bread is a staple in many of the world’s Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cuisines. It’s usually an oval-shaped bread that can be opened up and stuffed with goodies, which makes it the perfect container for different sandwich fillings, and the pocket-like shape enables it to be stored and stuffed with ease.

Dice up some tomatoes and cucumbers, sprinkle a bit of salt and pepper and add a squeeze of lemon juice. Throw it into a pitta bread and you’ll have a light and healthy snack to take with you on the go. If you’d prefer a bit of meat in your sandwich then add some sliced cooked chicken. They key here is to enjoy the simple taste of salt and pepper with the hint of lemon juice instead of spreading mayonnaise or other rich sauces.

Cereal Pots

Pots of cereal are a popular and quite fashionable little snack that can be taken to work to impress your friends. All you need is some medium sized pots. They can be made from plastic, but a glass jar is preferable so that the pot doesn’t get crushed in your bag. Ideally, it should have a screw-on cap so that it’s more secure as well. Cereal pots usually consist of some yogurt, fruit and of course, cereal.

First, add the bottom layer of fruit. Some recommendations are diced up apples, pieces of melon or maybe just a couple of grapes. The next layer is the yogurt. Some Greek yogurt is great for this, but other full-fat yoghurts are also a good choice. The reason you don’t pick low-fat is because the fat content is needed to fill you up in the mornings

The cereal could be almost anything, but it’s recommended you pick something healthy and not loaded with sugars. Always check the labels of your cereal and ensure that it’s not something extremely sweet. Bran flakes and whole wheat cereals are a good starting point.
