Deliciously Healthy Foods That Aren't Boring

Most of us would love to be more healthy. More exercise and activity is one way to achieve a better level of fitness. But watching what we eat can be one of the best ways to ensure we are as healthy as possible. The trouble is life is so busy these days. We rarely have time to cook good meals from scratch. And just eating fresh fruit and vegetables all the time can be pretty bland and boring.

It’s really important to mix up your meals as much as possible. Not only does it ease the boring out of eating, but it ensures a rounded diet. You need to absorb as many different vitamins and minerals as possible each week. These will come from grains, nuts and seeds, vegetables, pulses, beans and fruits. Dairy and meat can also form part of a healthy diet in moderation. And fish can provide valuable nutrients you may not be able to get from other sources.

A healthy meal is a balanced one. This means it contains a good portion of something from each food group. You need protein that could come from eggs, meat, fish or beans. And you also need carbohydrates. These can be sourced healthily from whole grains like rice or wheat. The trouble is, these can taste pretty bland on their own. It can be a good idea to use herbs, spices, and other ingredients to jazz them up a bit. And if you feel a bit clueless what to use, you can find various fragrance white rice brands available online for extra flavor.

Sauces can also be made from fresh ingredients, although this can take a little more time than you might have. If you’re looking for ready-made options, pick choices that only contain healthy ingredients. Preservatives, added sugars and salts are not ideal. Of course, you might still want to add some zing with chili sauce or some paprika!

Vegetables can also be a bit bland and tedious to eat. Season your roasted vegetables with a little salt and pepper. You can also brush them with chili infused olive oil. Why not enjoy a stir fry? You need very little oil, so this is a really healthy dish. Add mushrooms, peppers, tomatoes and even pineapples for a range of textures. A little soy sauce and a dash of fiery chili powder can add plenty of flavors. Serve with some fresh egg noodles or fragrant rice for a really healthy meal.

Slow cookers are one of the easiest gadgets in the kitchen to use. You can literally throw all your ingredients in with some fresh passata, a pinch of herbs and spices, and let it cook. Put it on in the morning to enjoy as soon as you get in at night. As it cooks slowly, all the flavors will meld and taste incredibly rich and tangy.

The secret to enjoying the healthiest ingredients is to build up plenty of texture and flavor. Mix up what you use, and try cooking it in different ways for different tastes. Love your food.
