When you go on holiday, more often than not I bet you stay in hotels. They are easy to organize and provide some of the best comforts you’ll ever find while travelling. Hoteliers are also super focused on providing the best service they can. No task is too small for them as they try and make your stay the best it can be. However, there are still some things that hoteliers wish more travelers were aware of. Not only will these things make their job slightly easier, but they are points that can help you enjoy your stay more as well! So to make everyone's’ lives a little bit easier, here are the not-so-secret secrets that hoteliers want you to know.

Help Yourself To The Freebies

Most hotels offer free toiletries and tea and coffee in their rooms. Many guests use what they need for the duration of their stay and then leave any they don’t use. But all hoteliers would be glad to see you take them with you! After all, they were included in the room price. So, seeing as you have already paid for them all, you may as well take them with you when you leave. Obviously, some things that you find in your hotel room should be left behind. Linen and bath towels need to be reused by the hotel. If you take these, then you can expect a bill in the post once you get home!

Got A Complaint? Let Them Know

If you have a complaint or find something wrong with your room, hoteliers want to know as soon as possible. This gives them a chance to deal with the issue and fix it for you. Once they’ve sorted it, you’ll find that you have a very comfortable stay! Hoteliers hate to find a guest complaining about their hotel on sites such as TripAdvisor. Especially if they were under the impression that the guest had enjoyed their stay. So their guests can choose which one they prefer. Ultimately, though, if the linen isn’t to your liking, you need to speak up! If you have forgotten something, no matter what it is, you should always ask to see if reception has a spare one. Does your hotel have a concierge service? Then the concierge might be able to run quickly out to a shop to buy you one. Most high-end hotels offer a concierge service, which is there to carry out any tasks requested by guests.

If your hotel doesn’t have an onsite restaurant, then you will probably be on the lookout for a good restaurant every evening. Staying in a country where you don’t speak the language? Then dinner reservations and getting good recommendations can be tricky. This is where each of the hotel staff can help you out. As all the employees on reception will be locals, they will have a good knowledge of the surrounding food scene. They will also be more than happy to help you book a table. Just remember to always tip hotel staff for their good work and helpfulness!

Then keep an eye out to their newsletters. They normally have special deals that are only available to customers who are signed up to their newsletter. Another handy tip is to book over the phone if you want to try and get a free upgrade. If you are going away for a special anniversary or birthday, briefly mention it in the phone call. You may end up with a nice little surprise once you arrive for your holiday! Even if you don’t get an upgrade, you may get a free bottle of Champagne in your room.
