How Food Budgeting Saves Money

Image
People nowadays rely on takeout food from different sources. I am actually guilty of it! I started doing check cashing and borrowing money to be able to cover my expenses eating out.

Eventually i realized that i can actually control myself and take over my finances. Now I'm here to share how I was able to manage my food budget and save money out of it.

Set a limit every month

By having a spending limit you will be able to have a view on how much you need to spend. It will also trigger your senses to actually do the math. Try to compare the takeout food expenses you had versus your set budget. The difference can be put to your rainy day fund.

Plan meals in advance

Meal planning is not really my thing before, but i did get used to it. By just sticking to eating out every 2 weeks i was able to plan my meals in advance. You can list down what food you like to eat, and then also know the option of you can make it at home, how much it costs and how many servings you can make out of it.

Shopping lists are easier to follow

With planned meals, you know the things that you need in creating your meals. you will also be able to fight the urge to buy things unnecessary since you have to stay within your limits as well.

You will be able to utilize your hidden cooking skills

If you know how to cook, great! But some of us really don't stay in the kitchen for a long time and doesn't have the required skills to cook. But you don't have to fret since there are a ton of cooking tutorials online and you can follow a step by step guide. NO TIME? NO PROBLEM. There are things that doesn't require you to stay in the kitchen forever. Crockpots are made for that, just turn it on, set the timer and you are good to go!

There are so many things that you can do with your saved money. Give food budgeting a try and see the difference.
