Simple Tips To Get Your Home Summer Ready!

I don’t think there’s much else better than having an incredible summery home when the weather is warm outside. Summer is the perfect time to give your home a makeover, even if it’s only a small one. By making a few small changes here and there, you can make such a big difference to your home. These simple tips will get you started. Enjoy:

Replace Your Window Treatments

If you have really heavy curtains on your windows, it could be time to replace them. Summer is a great time to let as much natural light in as possible, and the best way to do this is with sheer curtains or blinds. You can get blackout blinds if you’d rather not be woken up by the sun in the morning.

Freshen The Air Up

Having an abundance of fresh air in the home is a must for summer. You can do so much more than crack a window. Include a plant or two in your decor to purify the air and give a more summery feel. Upgrading your air conditioner is another good call. Make sure everybody can breathe easy in your home!

Choose A Summer Colour Scheme

Choosing a summer colour scheme is a nice, quick way to get your home ready. You can change the colour of your accessories, pick a new paint colour, or even a roll of wallpaper. It shouldn't take you too long to change things over. You could even go all out with patterns if you like. What better time to do it than summer?!

Invest In Lighter Accessories

Invest in lighter accessories, both in colour and in weight. This will give your home more of a fresh feel. You can even have a winter set and a summer set, ready to swap over when the seasons change. If you take care of them, you’ll barely need to replace them!

De-clutter

By simply de-cluttering your home, you’ll make loads of room and make your home appear brighter and better. It can be hard to start decluttering at first. It’s so easy to get attached to the things you own. If you don’t use things though or they are just lying around, you should try to find a way to get rid of them. Give them to charity if you can!

Focus On The Garden

The garden is probably one of the most exciting things about summer. Focus on getting rid of weeds and debris, as well as planting pretty flowers. You can get water features too, which will add an element of tranquility. If you really want to make sure you can relax, why not get a hammock? It wouldn’t be summer without a BBQ either.

These simple tips will make your home feel like summer in no time. You don’t have to use them all. Just pick a couple and see how you go. Do you have tips of your own you’d like to share? Make sure you leave a comment. Thanks for reading!

  1. Thanks for the tips on how to transition my decor so it is ready for summer. My house has been feeling really stuffy ever since the weather started heating up, so it will be a welcome change. Our living room has several huge windows, so swapping out the curtains and blinds will make a big difference. I can't decided if I would rather get black out curtains or sheer ones. Maybe I can install both on dual curtain rods! http://www.aussiecurtaincall.com.au/
